The album was recorded at London's Olympic Studios with producer Glyn Jones and released in 1972. The album immediately became a success for the young band, taking 22nd place in the charts and becoming platinum. Three singles were released from the album, each of which hit the Top 40: "Take It Easy" (12th place), "Witchy Woman" (9th place) and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (22nd place). Originally the album cover was an illustration by Robert Williams depicting a monster with daggers for teeth, attacking the robot, bent over the insensible woman in a torn dress and with pants down.
