A Day at the Races immediately came under fire from critics. Queen was accused of an unsuccessful attempt to repeat A Night At The Opera. The album turned out to be really very similar to the previous one, but this was never hidden by the musicians. It was released by the Polydor label on November 28, 1970, but failed to chart.
