Manic Nirvana is the fifth studio album by Robert Plant, released on March 19, 1990 on his own label Es Paranza. This album became commercially less successful in comparison with Plant's previous record, Now and Zen, receiving gold certification by the RIAA and reaching the 13th and 15th places in the US and UK music charts, respectively. Several singles were released on the album's songs, the most popular of which was "Hurting Kind (I've Got My Eyes on You)", which stayed at number one on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart for 6 weeks.

Robbie van Leeuwen acquired Veres in an attempt to emulate the shape of Jefferson's female airplane. Thanks to Veres' remarkable vocal performance and stunning appearance, the band finally had an adequate frontwoman. The band's second album was a mix of influences from pop rock to psychedelic rock.
