FREE-TONS OF SOBS-1969-ORIGINAL PRESS 1969 UK-ISLAND ILPS-9089. Matrices +A2/+B2. A very rare original of the second press of the cult album of the British blues prog. Tons of Sobs is the debut studio album by the British rock band Free, released by Island Records on March 14, 1969. One of the first albums in the blues-rock style. The album did not chart in the UK, but reached #197 on the Billboard Hot 200 in the US.At the time of recording the album, all the members of the band Free were very young: none of them had turned twenty yet, and bass guitarist Andy Fraser was sixteen years old at all. They achieved some success through constant touring, and their debut album was composed mainly of compositions performed at concerts. The budget allocated for the recording of the album was only 800 pounds[2]. Most of the album was recorded over a few days in October 1968. The album was originally scheduled for release in November 1968, but then postponed to early 1969 due to the late addition of a cover version of the blues composition "The Hunter" by Albert King

QUEEN-A NIGHT AT THE OPERA-1975-THE FIRST UK PRESS-EMI - EMTC103.Matrices A-2/B. (on the second side, the matrix is Scandinavian without a digit.) A rare British original. A Night at the Opera is the fourth studio album by the rock band Queen, released on December 2, 1975. The record was a great success: its sales reached three million, and it held the top position in the UK charts for four inconsistent weeks. The title of the album — "Night at the Opera" — as well as the subsequent one, is taken from the repertoire of American comedians of the 1930s by the Marx brothers, namely from the film of the same name. At each Queen concert, several songs from A Night at the Opera were necessarily performed (while "Love of My Life" was never performed in the album version). It is generally believed that the song "Death on Two Legs" is dedicated to the former producer of the band. "Bohemian Rhapsody" brought the band a resounding success and in 2000 was recognized in Britain as the "song of the millennium". The final album, "God Save the Queen", is the British national anthem arranged by Brian May; it was this composition that invariably ended each concert of the band. The album was ranked number 230 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003, and number 128 on the 2020 list. ...more

BEATLES-ROCK'N'ROLL MUSIC (2 VINYL)-1976-FIRST PRESS UK-PARLOPHONE- PCSP719 matrix A1/B1/C1/D1 Rock ’n’ Roll Music - compilation album of songs by the British rock band The Beatles, consisting of previously released tracks by The Beatles, which are, according to many, the quintessence of a style of music called "rock and roll". The album was released in the USA on June 7, 1976 by Capitol Records (catalog number SKBO 11537), in the UK on June 10, 1976 by Parlophone (catalog number PCSP 719); at that time, some media suggested that the album was released on the twentieth anniversary of the first meeting of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. If this was indeed the intention, then EMI made a mistake in their calculations, since in reality these two first met in July 1957. The album's title, Rock ’n’ Roll Music, is most likely taken from a Chuck Berry song, a version of which performed by The Beatles was included on the second side of the album. The album mainly consists of cover versions of songs written by such prominent rock and roll authors and performers of the 1950s as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Carl Perkins and Larry Williams, as well as notable original songs by the Lennon-McCartney duo, such as "Drive My Car", "Revolution", "Back in the U.S.S.R." and "Get Back". Rock 'n' Roll Music was The Beatles' first album to include the song "I'm Down", which had previously been available only on the "B" side of the single "Help!". ...more

NAZARETH-PLAY 'N' THE GAME-1976-THE FIRST UK-MOUNTAIN-TOPS113 PRESS.A rare British original. Play ’n’ the Game is the eighth studio album by the Scottish band Nazareth, released in 1976.The CD cover states: "This album is entirely dedicated to Bill Fehilly, whose faith and spirit are still with us." Bill Fehilly is the band's manager, who died shortly before in a plane crash. The musicians admitted that without his help, Nazareth would never have crossed the borders of England — let alone other countries. Play ’n’ the Game, like the previous album, went unnoticed in the UK, while the band was very popular in Canada, where Nazareth received about 50 gold and platinum records throughout the 1970s. In addition, Play ’n’ the Game opened the way for Nazareth popularity in South America. Dan McCafferty said of the album: "Call it a party album. Put it on again." ...more
