Since 1960, Shelly Mann has mainly concentrated on working at the jazz club, where he was a co-owner and in which he played both with his own band Shelly Manne and His Men, and with almost all the jazz stars of that time. His club featured, for example, Ben Webster, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Michel Legrand, Milt Jackson, Monty Alexander, Miles Davis.  So this album was born, recorded with superstars in the line-up with Johnny Hodges. The Australian version had a black and white cover; the foreign releases had a similar design, but in a black and yellow color scheme. Business as Usual was one of the Australian band's most successful albums internationally.
