MAYALL, JOHN-BLUES FROM LAUREL CANYON-1968-FIRST UK PRESS-DECCA -SKL4972.Matrices A-1W/B-1W. John Mayall's 1968 album featuring British blues music. It was his first album after the breakup of his band the Bluesbreakers in May 1968,[3] although others claim it was July 14, 1968. It was also his last album with Decca before moving to Polydor.John Mayall sings and plays harmonica, organ and guitar on the album. The other band members are a young Mick Taylor (guitar), Colin Allen (drums) and Steven Thompson (bass). Guitarist Peter Green is featured in the track "First Time Alone". The engineer was Derek Varnals. All the songs on the album were written by Mayall. The album's title comes from Laurel Canyon, California, USA (in the Los Angeles area), where John Mayall subsequently lived from 1969 to 1979. This is an account of his visit there before moving to the United States on a more permanent basis. At that time, this area was loved by many musicians. It was recorded at Decca Studios in West Hampstead, London, England from August 26-28, 1968 and released on the Decca label. The album reached number 33 on the UK Albums Chart. ...more
