The album was released on 24 March 1972, and reached number 2 in the album chart in the UK , remaining in the charts for 58 weeks. It was the first Slade album, caught in the UK charts, as well as the first, which landed on the Billboard 200 in the United States, where it peaked at number 158. Slade Alive! contains three original songs and also cover versions of songs by Ten Years After , The Lovin 'Spoonful , Bobby Marchan and Steppenwolf . It was recorded live at Command Theatre Studio and mixed at Olympic studios. Today the album is considered one of the greatest live albums of all time.
