Time Takes Time was recorded irregularly, with pauses for 1991 under the leadership of such well-known producers like Don Was, Peter Asher, Phil Ramone and Jeff Lynne. The songs for the album were written by third party authors. Ringo Starr co-wrote three songs-"Don't Go Where the Road Don't Go", "After All These Years" and "Runaways".
