The album brought musicians of international fame — they have become the fourth group, whose picture was placed on the cover of Time magazine, which called them "the highlight of the season." In turn, the editors of Rolling Stone noted that The Joshua Tree turned the band "from heroes to superstars". The album spawned several hit singles that have become the hallmark of the group — "With or Without You", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Where the Streets Have No Name". In 1988, the album received two Grammy awards in the categories "album of the year and Best vocal rock performance by a Duo or group". The Joshua Tree is regularly featured among the most important records in rock history and is one of the best selling albums in the world - more than 25 million copies. According to the decision of the National Academy of art and science of sound recording of the USA the album was included in "the Grammy Hall of fame", a solemn ceremony was held in 2014. In the same year, the album entered the archive of the us Library of Congress — national registry of iconic musical works of the twentieth century.
