ALLAN HOLDSWORTH-VELVET DARKNESS-1976-FIRST UK PRESS-CTI 6068. Rare British original cult album on collectible label. Velvet Darkness is the first Studio album by guitarist Allan Holdsworth, released in 1976 through producer Creed Taylor's CTI Records . The tracks for the album were initially recorded by engineer Rudy van Gelder at his Studio in Van Gelder in new Jersey. According to Holdsworth, this was done during a rehearsal session, after which the records were released by CTI without his or the other members of the group consent. None of the participating musicians had never received royalties for his work. Therefore, Holdsworth believed the album the unauthorized release and not part of his discography. But the album is interesting with a stunning entry and immediately became a coveted specimen in the collections of music lovers.
