Wood began work on the album while still in The Move , and conceived it to use numerous tools. The entry was rather eclectic and eccentric style of many genres such as classical music , art rock , folk , psychedelia , country and rock-n-roll, and illustrates the surreal world of wood. Upon release, the album was critically acclaimed for his individual sound and a great contribution to prog rock , and now considered one of his strongest works. It reached No. 15 in the British album chart and the single "Dear Elaine" was a top 20 hit.
