It was produced by Jerry Bron.Unlike their first album, the credits for the full half of the album were credited only to Ken Hensley, as opposed to the collaborative partnership of frontman David Byron and guitarist Mick Box. Shortly after the release, drummer Keith Baker left the band, replacing Ian Clark (from another Vertigo band, Cressida). Along with Clark, the band embarked on their first US tour, supporting Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf. This is the first album after the split of the band in early 1987, "Hero of Asphalt" is also the first album officially released by "Melody", the two previous albums at that time existed and were distributed as tape albums only on tape cassettes.
