This is the first CD recorded by the band after Roger Waters left Pink Floyd. Work on the album A Momentary Lapse of Reason lasted from November 1986 to July 1987 in seven studios in London and Los Angeles. The main part of the material for the new album was written by David Gilmour. In addition, Gilmore took over the duties of producer. Bob Ezrin was invited to record the album as a co-producer. Unlike Pink Floyd's previous works, A Momentary Lapse of Reason is not based on any concept combining the lyrics.A Momentary Lapse of Reason rose to number three on both the US and UK charts. The recordings took place in January 1984 at a power plant in New York . Stevie Ray Vaughan wrote half of the tracks, unable to withstand the weather. The album reached number 31 on the Billboard 200 chart, and the video for the song "Couldn't Stand the Weather" received regular rotation on MTV. Passion and Warfare is the second studio album by guitarist Steve Vai, released on May 22, 1990 on Relativity and Epic Records. He received a gold certificate from the RIAA. Passion and Warfare was written based on a series of episodes of dreams that Vai had when he was younger, and in the album's guitar notes book Vai summarizes it this way: "Jimi Hendrix meets Jesus Christ at a party that Ben Hur arranged for Mel Blanc." It was all recorded at Mothership Studios in his Hollywood Hills home, a 1,600-square-foot (150 m2) building that also recorded his guitar parts for Whitesnake's 1989 album Slip of the Tongue. Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale has small spoken parts on the album; Coverdale, Adrian Vandenberg and Rudy Sarzo are credited with backing vocals. Vai claims that planning for the album began back in 1982, but was postponed after joining David Lee Roth's band and was not resumed until the breakup with Roth in 1989. ...more
