As a solo petty album Full Moon Fever, Into the Great Wide Open was produced by fellow musician by the Traveling Wilburys Jeff Lynne. The album was moderately successful, certified gold in Germany and Switzerland, platinum in the UK and Sweden, and 2×multi-platinum in Canada and the United States. The song "Out In The Cold", "Learning To Fly", "King's Highway" and "Into The Great Wide Open" took the leading position in the Mainstream Rock chart. In the last music video starred johnny Depp who had free time on the set of the film "Arizona dream" by Emir Kusturica.

Instead of using the album as a chance to showcase his drumming skills, Moon performed lead vocals on all tracks and played drums on only three of them ("Crazy Like a Fox", "The Kids Are Alright" and "Move Over Ms. L"), although he played percussion on "Don't Worry Baby". Sinatra Swings (originally titled "Swing with Me") is an album by Frank Sinatra with Billy May and his orchestra, released in 1961. The two album titles stem from the fact that Capitol believed that this album, originally titled "Rock with Me", was so close in sound and title to Sinatra's earlier Capitol album "Let's Rock with Me!" that the label sought and was satisfied with a court order requiring Reprise to change the name of this, only his second Reprise album, to Sinatra Swings. Re-printing was not required to recall the already shipped records, but new labels and covers had to be printed, and the album cover announced that it contained "twelve of the most uninhibited things Sinatra has ever recorded."
