A Day at the Races is the fifth studio album by the British rock band Queen, released on December 10, 1976 in the United Kingdom and December 18, 1976 in the United States.The album's title, "A Day at the Races," is taken from the repertoire of the American comedians of the 1930s, the Marx brothers. A Day at the Races immediately came under fire from critics. Queen was accused of unsuccessfully trying to repeat A Night At The Opera. The album turned out to be really very similar to the previous one, but it was never hidden by the musicians. The album featured "Lonesome" Dave Peverett on vocals after Chris Yulden left the band last spring. Leader/guitarist Kim Simmonds will be the only band member to continue working with the band after this album, as all the other band members left to form Foghat next year. It was released by Decca in 1970 (SKL 5066). For release in the USA and Canada, the cassettes were leased to Parrot Records (PAS 71042). The album spent a week in the official UK charts and reached number 50.
