Fully Allmusic praised the album in their retrospective review, praising the keyboard work of Rick Davis, vocals Roger Hodgson and the sax of John Helliwell. They noted especially the emotionally powerful songwriting, which, in their opinion, gave the album "a warm charming personality and subtle mood", the Album was certified platinum in the US And Canada, gold in Europe and Britain.
