Tons of Sobs is the debut Studio album by British rock band Free, released by Island Records on 14 March 1969. One of the first albums in the style of Blues-rock. The album hit the UK charts, but reached #197 in the Billboard Hot 200 in the United States.At the time of the recording of the album the band Free was very young: none of them are under the age of twenty, and bass player Andy Fraser was sixteen. They have had some success through constant touring, and their debut album was composed mostly of songs performed at concerts. The budget allocated for the recording of the album was only 800 pounds[2]. Much of the album was recorded over several days in October 1968. The original release of the album was scheduled for November 1968, but then postponed to early 1969 due to late add a cover version of Blues songs "The Hunter" by albert king
