The Singles 86>98 is a singles compilation Depeche Mode, released in September 1998. In the same way as a similar compilation, The Singles 81→85, which was released in 1985, this album is a compilation of the past remastered songs released as singles in the period from 1986 (the album Black Celebration) and 1997 (album Ultra). In addition, the composition of the collection included a new song "Only When I Lose Myself", released as a single on 7 September 1998. Shortly before the release of the album, the members of Depeche Mode said that The Singles 86>98 covers, in their opinion, the most fruitful creative phase in the history of the group.
