In the Court of the Crimson King is the debut Studio album by the British band King Crimson, released in 1969. The album ranked fifth in the list of Top 25 best albums of progressive rock version Progarchives.com. This drive has had a big and unusually strong influence on the development of psychedelic rock, progressive rock and heavy metal. The album was recorded with exceptional musicality, the poetics of texts. While some rock groups (e.g., Pink Floyd) were prone to writing long songs, while others tried to hold in a rock song freedom jazz forms (Frank Zappa), in the Court of the Crimson King group used a bizarre poetry blakowski nightmares, visions, and premonitions. The group is always attributed to so-called genre of "intelligent heavy metal", and their very first album, created this genre, and also advanced music idea forward on several fronts. The album opens with the song "21st Century Schizoid Man", which is characterized by the use of heavily distorted vocals, deliberately monotonous, mechanical rhythm and piercingly loud saxophone and guitar. The rhythm is specified as the first song, suddenly gives way to a soft melodic calm "I Talk to the Wind". Air psychedelic piece "Moonchild" is completed with free form improvisation. In "Epitaph" and the title "The Court of The Crimson King" " the group used in the orchestration of the Mellotron.
