The producer of this release this time were worked previously with the group when producing the singles "the Reflex" and "Wild Boys", the guitarist of the band Chic — Nile Rodgers. He also played the guitar on the main single of the album "Notorious". This is the only single of the album, which was able to reach its former commercial success (2nd place in USA and 7th in the UK).

The song "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" was attended by Elton John. He made a bet with Lennon that the song would be able to take first place in the American hit parade (which was previously not possible for any one single solo Lennon). If this would have happened, Lennon was required to attend the Elton John concert. He had to fulfill his promise, because, "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" actually managed to climb to the top of the chart. The song "Beef Jerky" is the only instrumental on solo albums Lennon. A different version was released on Polydor in Europe and Capitol in the US, Canada and Japan. The album "Love Is Like Oxygen", the latest single from the group that ranked in the top 40, it reached number 8 in the US and 9th in the UK. The only version of "Love Is Like Oxygen" is substantially shorter than the album version. The second single, "California Nights", was released as the album but only reached #76 in the United States. This was the last album with the classic lineup of Sweet, as Brian Connolly left about a year after the album's release to start a solo career.
