The album marked the desire of the Blackmore to do a commercial sound. In an interview with Sounds (25 July 1981) Blackmore made no secret of his desire to make music like Foreigner. Ronnie James dio has described this period in the history of Rainbow as "Foreigner Junior" (Foreigner Jr.). Gill and Roelofs 1980 record a new album, preceded by its release of the single We Gotta Get Out Of This Place. The album was called I Like Some Cool Rock'n'roll, and it was produced by himself, Roelofs, and Farian remained in the project as a viewer and a producer, for which, however, had the final word. The album was attended by interesting disco song Go Down Main Street, Tom Cat, as well as a few songs Roelofs, co-written by Fred Jay, including a beautiful lyrical Take Your Time. What prevented this album to be a bestseller, unknown, but, apparently, the role played by the fact that in 1980 disco began to experience hard times.
