The disc rose to #39 on the UK Albums Chart and to #93 on the Billboard 200, Title track was released as a single in the US, UK and few European countries in 1971. In 1973, in the USA the single was released live version of "July Morning". The original version of the cover provided for the slit and "the mirror" from the foil in which looking could see my distorted image.

Full Moon Fever is the first solo album of the leader of the American rock band The Heartbreakers Tom petty. One of the most successful albums of the musician, who took 3rd place in the Billboard 200 and became 5×platinum in the United States and 6×platinum in Canada. Tom petty has completed the tour with The Heartbreakers in support of the album Let Me Up (I've Had Enough) and began to compose songs together with his colleague by the Traveling Wilburys and Electric Light Orchestra leader Jeff Lynn. The material was not similar to the typical songs of The Heartbreakers and petty decided to record them as a solo album. Tom's decision provoked a mixed reaction from his colleagues at The Heartbreakers, nevertheless they all, with the exception of drummer Stan Lynch, contributed to a record Full Moon Fever.
