Tons of Sobs is the debut Studio album by British rock band Free, released by Island Records on 14 March 1969. One of the first albums in the style of Blues-rock. The album hit the UK charts, but reached #197 in the Billboard Hot 200 in the United States.At the time of the recording of the album the band Free was very young: none of them are under the age of twenty, and bass player Andy Fraser was sixteen. They have had some success through constant touring, and their debut album was composed mostly of songs performed at concerts. The CD was released after the extraordinary success of Band on the Run and also became very popular. First album of Paul McCartney with the label Capitol Records. After the album Band on the Run part Wings in 1974, also included Jimmy McCulloch (lead guitar) and Geoff Britton (drums). After McCartney wrote some new songs for the forthcoming album, the band in January 1975, flew to New Orleans, where he was scheduled to record Venus and Mars.Britton, quarreled with McCulloch left the group, having to take part in the recording of only three songs of the album. He urgently picked up a replacement, American Joe English, with whom he continued recording. Это был последний релиз группы на лейбле Capitol в США. Альбом стал первым официальным ретроспективным релизом в карьере лидера группы Пола Маккартни после распада The Beatles. Альбом был записан после того, как Маккартни решил покинуть американский лейбл EMICapitol и в течение шести лет сотрудничать с Columbia (только в США и Канаде), хотя во время творческого отпуска в США он оставался в EMI по всему миру.  Изначально альбом задумывался как двойной, со второй пластинкой Cold Cuts: сборником ранее не издававшихся отрывков из песен Wings.
