The CD was released after the extraordinary success of Band on the Run and also became very popular. First album of Paul McCartney with the label Capitol Records. After the album Band on the Run part Wings in 1974, also included Jimmy McCulloch (lead guitar) and Geoff Britton (drums). After McCartney wrote some new songs for the forthcoming album, the band in January 1975, flew to New Orleans, where he was scheduled to record Venus and Mars.Britton, quarreled with McCulloch left the group, having to take part in the recording of only three songs of the album. He urgently picked up a replacement, American Joe English, with whom he continued recording.
