The album sold about two million copies, and was certified gold in the United States by the RIAA. After the album was released, the band went on a world tour. The album is ranked number 62 on DigitalDreamDoor's list of the 100 greatest heavy metal albums (DDD). "Balls to the Wall" was ranked 38th on VH1's "40 greatest metal songs" list and 28th on VH1's "40 worst metal songs"list.
