DEEP PURPLE-FIREBALL-1971-FIRST PRESS (TRANSITION 1974) UK-HARVEST - SHVL793 of the Matrix A-2U/B-3U . A very rare early edition of the cult album. Fireball is the fifth Studio album by British rock band Deep Purple. Recorded between September 1970 and June 1971, released in September 1971 on Harvest Records. The album was recorded at De Lane Lea Studios (like its predecessor). Compared to Deep Purple in Rock, this album was recorded in a more experimental style. Allmusic named it one of the band's four most important albums, along with Machine Head, In Rock, and Burn. Ian Gillan, unlike the rest of the band, considers this album a classic of Deep Purple. However, he noted that the album's inclusion of" Anyone's Daughter "(in country style and with humorous lyrics) was fun, but a mistake ("A good bit of fun, but a mistake"). Jon Lord highlighted several of the album's tracks, such as" No No No "and" Fools", and particularly noted pace's playing in the title track. The track "Strange Kind of Woman", released as a single in February 1971 and rose to number eight in the UK charts. It sold 20,000 copies in its first week. The album was highly acclaimed by the public and critics, becoming multi-gold on both sides of the Atlantic. ...more
