DEMON FUZZ-AFREAKA! - 1970-THE FIRST PRESS of UK-DAWN-DNLS3013, a mega rare original by a British prog band. Up to a certain point, Demon Fuzz was quite a typical British progressive band of the late sixties. Atypical was the fact that the team consisted of seven black members, which, however, was also not so rare. A turning point occurred when the Demon Fuzz musicians visited Morocco, where they fully discovered African music. Here lies the secret of this unusual group: when they returned back to the UK, they realized that it would be great to mix their native progressive rock with the African rhythms that they loved so much. As a result, their cult album was born, which is designated as Afro-rock. However, the musical palette of Demon Fuzz turned out even brighter. In their heavy progressive, in addition to the African influence, you can find elements of soul (especially in the vocals), and jazz with a confident wind section, and although not so significant, but slipping funk. Their record "Afreka!" sounds very interesting and diverse, and their amazing combination of styles makes the most impressive impression.The album consists of five very long tracks. The album is one of the band's most underrated albums, which is probably why it is not known to all fans of the band. This is completely undeserved, since it, in fact, includes no less interesting songs by Van Leeuwen than those that the musician wrote before. "Time Slips Away", "Diana in Her Dreams" and "Save Your Love" are the classic type of songs from earlier Shocking Blue.
