It was released in 2006 by Paris-based Ya Basta Records, under the management of Philippe Cohen Solal. The album is named Lunático after the racehorse of the legendary tango master Carlos Gardel. The album is a collaboration with the American band Calexico, recorded in Tucson, Arizona, and a cover of the song by Ry Cooder in Paris, Texas . The rest of the album was recorded in Paris and Buenos Aires . The first single from the album was "Diferente", and the second was "Mi Confesión". The third single was "La Vigüela". The album so captured the hearts of listeners and critics that it was at the top of the charts in 25 countries for a year.
