The album was the band's first album since the death of guitarist Steve Clarke in 1991. Adrenalize debuted at No. 1 on the UK albums chart, and the following week on the US Billboard 200. It remained at No. 1 on the Billboard chart for five weeks, keeping Bruce Springsteen's Human Touch at number one, and spent a total of 65 weeks on the charts.
