This was the second series of collections of Fitzgerald songs organized by Riddle; their previous joint project was her book of George and Ira Gershwin songs in 1959. Fitzgerald and Riddle also recorded two albums of standards in 1962: "Ella Swings Brightly with Nelson" and "Ella Swings Softly with Nelson".
