DEEP PURPLE-PERFECT STRANGERS-1984-FIRST PRESS UK-POLYDOR POLH16  A very rare original in top condition. Perfect Strangers is the eleventh studio album by the British rock band Deep Purple and the first recorded by the reunited "classic line-up" of the band, released in November 1984.  In early October, Perfect Strangers was mixed, and on November 16 it went on sale, rising to the 5th place in Britain and to the 17th-in the USA. Blackmore, known for his inconsistency, joked that the album should finally be called the album of 1974, hinting that the last album recorded in this line-up was released back in 1973 (Who Do We Think We Are). Such zeal did not remain without consequences: the album turned out to be very successful, quickly became platinum, took 5th place in the UK charts and 17th place in the USA. Deep Purple embarked on a world tour, culminating in a performance in front of 80,000 British fans at Knebworth Park in June 1985. ...more

Magical Mystery Tour is an album by the English rock band the Beatles, released as a double EP in the United Kingdom and LP in the United States. It includes the soundtrack to the TV movie of the same name in 1967. The EP was released in the UK on December 8, 1967 on the Parlophone label, while the Capitol Records release in the US took place on November 27 and included five more songs that were originally released as singles in the same year. In 1976, Parlophone released an eleven-track album in the UK. Despite widespread criticism in the media of the film "Magic Mystical Tour", the soundtrack was a critical and commercial success. In the UK, it topped the EPs chart compiled by the Record Retailer label, and took 2nd place in the magazine's singles chart (later in the UK Singles chart) after "Hello, Goodbye". The album topped the Billboard Best Records list for eight weeks and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category" Album of the Year "in 1969. With the international standardization of The Beatles ' catalog in 1987, Magical Mystery Tour became the only album released by Capitol that replaced the band's intended format and became part of their main catalog. ...more

Lot 124.CHARLES, RAY/ CLEO LAINE -PORGY AND BESS-1976-FIRST PRESS UK-LONDON-NMINT/NMINT

CHARLES, RAY/ CLEO LAINE-PORGY AND BESS-1976-FIRST PRESS UK-LONDON-D31D2 Rare British original of the legend of the jazz scene. Porgy and Bess is an English-language opera by American composer George Gershwin, whose libretto was written by author Dubose Hayward and lyricist Ira Gershwin. It was adapted from the play "Porgy" by Dorothy Hayward and Dubose Hayward, which is itself an adaptation of the 1925 novel of the same name by Dubose Hayward. Porgy and Bess was first performed in Boston on September 30, 1935, before moving to Broadway in New York.[1] It featured a cast of classically trained African-American singers—a bold artistic choice at the time. After an initially unpopular public reception, the 1976 production of the Houston Grand Opera brought her new popularity, and she is now one of the most famous and frequently performed operas. In 1976, Ray Charles and Cleo Lane recorded an album of excerpts for RCA Victor, in which the two of them performed several roles. The album was arranged and conducted by Frank De Vol. It featured Joe Sample's organ, Harry Edison's trumpet, and guitar work by Joe Pass and Lee Ritenour. It was based on jazz with full orchestration, but the orchestrations used were not Gershwin's. ...more
