Lot 121.SINATRA, FRANK -SINATRA'S SWINGING SESSION-1961-FIRST PRESS (STEREO) UK-CAPITOL-NMINT/NMINT

SINATRA, FRANK -SINATRA'S SWINGING SESSION-1961-FIRST PRESS (STEREO) UK-CAPITOL-SW-1491.  A rare American original of the iconic album. Sinatra Swings (originally titled "Swing with Me") is an album by Frank Sinatra with Billy May and his orchestra, released in 1961. The two album titles stem from the fact that Capitol believed that this album, originally titled "Rock with Me", was so close in sound and title to Sinatra's earlier Capitol album "Let's Rock with Me!" that the label sought and was satisfied with a court order requiring Reprise to change the name of this, only his second Reprise album, to Sinatra Swings. Re-printing was not required to recall the already shipped records, but new labels and covers had to be printed, and the album cover announced that it contained "twelve of the most uninhibited things Sinatra has ever recorded." The tracks were arranged and conducted by Billy May and his orchestra. Sinatra had a minor hit with the single "Granada" included on this album. ...more

Recorded with the participation of opera singer Montserrat Caballe. Freddie Mercury's second and last lifetime solo album. The CD was recorded in 1987-1988 at Mountain Studios. The idea of Freddie Mercury involving a symphony orchestra was not realized due to lack of time, and as a result, the album was partially arranged with synthesizers and a drum machine. The song "Barcelona", which gave the album its name, became the anthem of the city hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics in Spain. ...more

DEEP PURPLE-FIREBALL-1971-THE FIRST UK-HARVEST PRESS- SHVL793 Matrix A-2U/B-3U . 3OA/1LA stamper (The "Column" version of the label) A rare original of the iconic album. Fireball is the fifth studio album by British rock band Deep Purple. Recorded between September 1970 and June 1971, it was released in September 1971 on the Harvest Records label. The album was recorded at De Lane Lea Studios (like its predecessor). Compared to Deep Purple in Rock, this album was recorded in a more experimental style. Allmusic named it one of the band's four most important albums, along with Machine Head, In Rock and Burn. Ian Gillan, unlike the rest of the band, considers this album a classic of Deep Purple. However, he noted that the inclusion of "Anyone's Daughter" on the album (in a country style and with humorous lyrics) was fun, but a mistake ("A good bit of fun, but a mistake"). Jon Lord highlighted several tracks on the album, such as "No No No" and "Fools", and especially noted Pace's playing in the title track. The track "Strange Kind of Woman", released as a single in February 1971 and rose to number eight in the UK charts. 20,000 copies were sold in the first week. The album was highly appreciated by the public and critics, becoming multi-gold on both sides of the Atlantic. ...more
