SHELLY MANNE AND CO. -SAME -1964-THE FIRST UK-STATESIDE PRESS-SL10125. A rare British original of the iconic album.  Since the early 1960s, jazz began to transform towards modern and free jazz. Since 1960, Shelly Mann has mainly concentrated on working at the jazz club, where he was a co-owner and in which he played both with his own band Shelly Manne and His Men, and with almost all the jazz stars of that time. His club featured, for example, Ben Webster, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Michel Legrand, Milt Jackson, Monty Alexander, Miles Davis.  So this album was born, recorded with superstars in the line-up with Johnny Hodges. A very rare original of the English prog-psycho band. Pink Fairies — What a Bunch of Sweeties (1972) This release is by many the most beloved of the three Pink Fairies albums recorded on the Polydor label. The record was recorded in 1972, at a time when the band's own reputation as hippie hooligans was already overshadowed by the soaring Hawkwind, "What a Bunch of Sweets" found that the band was rebuilding under the perverted American-rock style of modern MC5, with a high level of noise, but, unfortunately, with a low level of explosive determination, which was the hallmark of their debut album.The loss of the band's founder (Twink) may or may not have contributed to the further breakup, although it cannot be denied that in full instrumental overdrive, the incarnation of the three-person band (plus invited guests) was at least as dramatic as that of its predecessor. Indeed, the nine-minute attack on The Ventures' song "Walk Don't Run" ranks among the best Pink Fairies recordings of all time, while the bonus inclusion of an even longer version gives this record even more significance. There is also a hot version of The Beatles song "I Saw Her Standing There", a perverted country opus "Pigs of Uranus" and, concluding about the bonus tracks, a gloomy reinterpretation of the Don Nicks song "Goin' Down". ...more

MUDDY WATERS-ELECTRIC MUD-1968-THE FIRST UK PRESS- CHESS-CRLS-4542 is a very rare British original of the cult album "papa" blues. Electric Mud is the fifth studio album by Muddy Waters, featuring the members of Rotary Connection as a backing band. Released in 1968, it introduces Muddy Waters as a psychedelic musician. Producer Marshall Chess suggested that Muddy Waters record it in an attempt to appeal to a rock audience. The album reached number 127 on the Billboard 200 chart. COLTRANE, JOHN / SHEPP, ARCHIE -NEW THING AT NEWPORT-1965-FIRST PRESS (STEREO) USA- IMPULSE-AS-94-A very rare American original of the cult album . A 1965 live album consisting of two separate sets from that year's Newport Jazz Festival, composed by tenor saxophonists John Coltrane and Archie Shepp. It was recorded four days after Coltrane's Ascension album recording session, at which Shapp appeared, and is one of several albums documenting the final stages of Coltrane's "classic quartet", which would begin to break up by the end of that year with the departure of McCoy Tyner. Reviewer Tim Niland wrote that both of Coltrane's performances are "explosive in their intensity" and "One Down, One Up" is "almost boiling at times." He stated: "Despite the audacity of the music, there are enough melodic hints in it, and the musicians are so obviously sincere in their desire to explore the world that the audience gives them great support." Nayland concluded: "Although the music on this CD must have come as something of a shock to those who were unprepared for it, listening to it in a historical context shows that this is a great example of the rapidly developing state of jazz in the mid-1960s by two of its most famous performers." ...more
