Electric Mud is the fifth studio album by Muddy Waters, featuring the members of Rotary Connection as a backing band. Released in 1968, it introduces Muddy Waters as a psychedelic musician. Producer Marshall Chess suggested that Muddy Waters record it in an attempt to appeal to a rock audience. The album reached number 127 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album caused controversy due to the fusion of electric blues with elements of psychedelics.
