Wild Frontier is the sixth solo studio album by Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore, released on March 2, 1987. This is his first studio work after returning to his native Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1985. The album contains several songs about Ireland. The album is dedicated to the memory of Moore's close friend and former Thin Lizzy member Phil Lynott, who died on January 4, 1986. It says "Philippe" on the back cover. Wild Frontier contains the hit single "Over the Hills and Far Away", which reached number 20 in the UK, as well as a cover version of the Easybeats song "Friday on My Mind". Max Middleton's song "The Loner" was originally recorded by Cozy Powell for his album Over the Top in 1979 (on which Moore performed, although not on Powell's recording of "The Loner"). Moore significantly changed the track for his recording, so he is listed as a co-author.
