It was recorded in 1987. The recording took place in the mobile studio "Tonwagen" (Melodiya company) for three days in May 1987 in the village of Shushary near Leningrad. Two sides of the album were named "Red" and "Black". "Block of Hell" was released as a magnetoalbum in 1987, and two years later it was released on vinyl simultaneously with the album "The Sixth Forester".
