Recorded at Hook End Manor in Oxfordshire and Westside Studios in London, it was the group's second album with vocalist Steve Hogarth and the first written entirely without the old singer Fish . Partly due to producer Christopher Neil , many of the songs have a basic pop-rock sound, in contrast to the progressive rock of previous works, and Hogarth said that is the best album MARILLION ever recorded.
