The album continued the direction of hard rock, which the band took on the previous effort, Crest of a Knave (1987). Now the group included Ian Anderson , Martin Barre , Dave Pegg and drummer Doane Perry is in his first full record with the band, although he was a member of Jethro Tull since 1984. Without a permanent keyboardist, this role was shared Maartin Alcock of Fairport Convention and former member of Tull Peter Vettese .The rock island went gold in the UK, with good sales also in Germany, where it peaked at number 5. Good sales were also single" Kissing Willie," which reached No. 6.

In 1970, they recorded their second studio album, Death May Be Your Santa Claus, at Mushroom Studios and invited Second Hand to release their album there. The album was released in April 1971 with a supporting single titled "Funeral", featuring "Hangin' On An Eyelid " (track 2 from the album) as the B-side. This album was much more successful than the previous one, using a heavy symphonic rock style that clearly influenced the vocal style of Arthur Brown(Rob Elliott was a big fan of them). ...more
