Stone the Crows disbanded in 1973, following the accidental death of Leslie Harvey from electrocution on May 2, 1972. Harvey was an integral part of the band and its music. Peter Grant became Bell's manager after the split, and along with Mark London, offered to help Bell record a solo album. Grant directed the release of her first solo album, Queen of the Night (1974), which was recorded in New York City. with producer Jerry Wexler.
