In the Beginning is a double album by flautist Hubert Laws, released on CTI and recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in 1974. The album was later re-released on CTI as two separate volumes under the title Then There Was Light. Critics praised the album stating: "In this double album, flautist Hubert Lawes is in all his glory.
