SECOND HAND-DEATH MAY BE YOUR SANTA CLAUS-1971-FIRST PRESS FRANCE-2C062-92660. A very rare French original of the second album of the top progressive British band Second Hand. In 1970, they recorded their second studio album, Death May Be Your Santa Claus, at Mushroom Studios and invited Second Hand to release their album there. The album was released in April 1971 with a supporting single titled "Funeral", featuring "Hangin' On An Eyelid " (track 2 from the album) as the B-side. This album was much more successful than the previous one, using a heavy symphonic rock style that clearly influenced the vocal style of Arthur Brown(Rob Elliott was a big fan of them). ...more

A rare original of one of the icons of funk-soul style.  Angel is the ninth studio album by The Ohio Players and the sixth album recorded for Mercury. The band grew from seven to eight members with the addition of Clarence "Chet" Willis on rhythm guitar. Three singles were released in support of the album: "Body Vibes", "O-H-I-O", and "Merry Go Round"." Seven Tears is the seventh studio album by The Hague, South Holland - based rock band Golden Earring, originally (and until 1969) titled The Golden Earrings. 1971 began with the single Holy Holy Life, which had a heavy rock sound. The song, which cursed the hypocrisy of the official religion, reached number 5 in the Netherlands. The single was followed by the album Seven Tears, the title of which reflected, firstly, that it was the band's seventh album, and secondly, that it included seven songs.One long single, She Flies On Strange Wings, was selected from the album, which should be noted for the unusual saxophone of Barry Hay. Due to its length, the song occupied both sides of the vinyl single. The Dutch charts marked it at No. 4. Inspired by the Beatles ' film Let It Be, a film was made for this single, in which Golden Earring performed on the roof of the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam. The album Seven Tears ended with the song You're Better Off Free, sung by Coymans and featuring a thumping guitar solo. During the recording of Seven Tears, Kooijmans, Gerritsen and Suderwijk, along with several other Dutch musicians, teamed up and recorded a rock version of the traditional Dutch music Hans Brinker Symphony, which was released by Polydor under the overall name "Holland" and was a great success in the Dutch charts. ...more
