The songs are remixes of some of their hits, reflecting the popularity of remixes of existing songs and dance culture of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Most of the songs are extended mixes. CHARLES, RAY/ CLEO LAINE-PORGY AND BESS-1976-FIRST PRESS UK-LONDON-D31D2 Rare British original of the legend of the jazz scene. Porgy and Bess is an English-language opera by American composer George Gershwin, whose libretto was written by author Dubose Hayward and lyricist Ira Gershwin. It was adapted from the play "Porgy" by Dorothy Hayward and Dubose Hayward, which is itself an adaptation of the 1925 novel of the same name by Dubose Hayward. Porgy and Bess was first performed in Boston on September 30, 1935, before moving to Broadway in New York.[1] It featured a cast of classically trained African-American singers—a bold artistic choice at the time. After an initially unpopular public reception, the 1976 production of the Houston Grand Opera brought her new popularity, and she is now one of the most famous and frequently performed operas. In 1976, Ray Charles and Cleo Lane recorded an album of excerpts for RCA Victor, in which the two of them performed several roles. The album was arranged and conducted by Frank De Vol. It featured Joe Sample's organ, Harry Edison's trumpet, and guitar work by Joe Pass and Lee Ritenour. Blues is the third soundtrack album and the seventh (overall) album by American singer and musician Elvis Presley, released by RCA Victor in mono and stereo format LPM/LSP 2256 in October 1960. This is the soundtrack to the 1960 film of the same name, in which he starred. Recording sessions took place on April 27 and 28, and on May 6, 1960 at RCA Victor Studio C and Radio Recorders in Hollywood, California. The album topped the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. It was certified gold on March 13, 1963 and platinum on March 27, 1992 by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album remained at #1 for eleven weeks. ...more
