The album was originally released in the United States. The album cover shows a photo taken during the same photo shoot as the photos that appeared on the covers of the albums 12 X 5 and The Rolling Stones No. 2. The album was the result of six months of work by the band. It includes songs that later became hits, such as "The Last Time" and, which became world famous, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", previously released only on the band's live EP Got Live If You Want It!.
