Closing Time is the debut album by American singer-songwriter Tom Waits, released on March 6, 1973 on the Asylum Records label. Produced and arranged by former Lovin 'Spoonful member Jerry Yester, Closing Time was the first of Waits' seven major releases from Asylum. The album was moderately successful in the United States, and although it did not chart and received little attention from the music press in the UK and other countries too. This explains that the album began to be re-released in Europe in the second half of the 70s when Tom became a super star.
