WAITS, TOM-CLOSING TIME-1973-FIRST PRESS 1979 GERMANY-ASYLUM-ASK53030 A rare German original of the first album from the master of tavern blues. Closing Time is the debut album by American singer-songwriter Tom Waits, released on March 6, 1973 on the Asylum Records label. Produced and arranged by former Lovin 'Spoonful member Jerry Yester, Closing Time was the first of Waits' seven major releases from Asylum. The album was moderately successful in the United States, and although it did not chart and received little attention from the music press in the UK and other countries too. This explains that the album began to be re-released in Europe in the second half of the 70s when Tom became a super star. This is the soundtrack to the 1960 film of the same name, in which he starred. Recording sessions took place on April 27 and 28, and on May 6, 1960 at RCA Victor Studio C and Radio Recorders in Hollywood, California. The album topped the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.
