Lot 74.DEEP PURPLE-PERFECT STRANGERS-1984-FIRST PRESS UK-POLYDOR-NMINT/NMINT

DEEP PURPLE-PERFECT STRANGERS-1984-FIRST PRESS UK-POLYDOR POLH16  A very rare original in top condition. Perfect Strangers is the eleventh studio album by the British rock band Deep Purple and the first recorded by the reunited "classic line-up" of the band, released in November 1984.  In early October, Perfect Strangers was mixed, and on November 16 it went on sale, rising to the 5th place in Britain and to the 17th-in the USA. Blackmore, known for his inconsistency, joked that the album should finally be called the album of 1974, hinting that the last album recorded in this line-up was released back in 1973 (Who Do We Think We Are). Such zeal did not remain without consequences: the album turned out to be very successful, quickly became platinum, took 5th place in the UK charts and 17th place in the USA. Deep Purple embarked on a world tour, culminating in a performance in front of 80,000 British fans at Knebworth Park in June 1985. ...more

A very rare British original. Burn is the eighth studio album by the British band Deep Purple and the first recorded by the "Mark 3" line-up, released in February 1974 on EMI / Purple (in the UK) and Warner Bros. Burn was recorded in November 1973 in Montreux, Switzerland (Mobile Studio of The Rolling Stones). Under the influence of newcomers-vocalist David Coverdale and bass guitarist / vocalist Glenn Hughes-the sound of Deep Purple became more bluesy, elements of funk and soul began to manifest themselves.Despite the fact that the song "Burn" became a big hit, and its main melody is second in recognition only to the legendary "Smoke on the Water", in fact, few people know that the riff of this composition was borrowed from George Gershwin from " Fascinating Rhythm /Someone to Watch Over Me "[4][unauthorized source?]. Having become a hit," Burn " opened all Deep Purple concerts for the next two years. ...more
