The album topped the Billboard Best Records list for eight weeks and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category" Album of the Year "in 1969. Under the influence of newcomers-vocalist David Coverdale and bass guitarist / vocalist Glenn Hughes-the sound of Deep Purple became more bluesy, elements of funk and soul began to manifest themselves.Despite the fact that the song "Burn" became a big hit, and its main melody is second in recognition only to the legendary "Smoke on the Water", in fact, few people know that the riff of this composition was borrowed from George Gershwin from " Fascinating Rhythm /Someone to Watch Over Me "[4][unauthorized source?]. Having become a hit," Burn " opened all Deep Purple concerts for the next two years. ...more
