A very rare original of the cult blues rocker. Since the release of the previous album A Hard Road, there have been noticeable changes in the composition of the Bluesbreakers: Peter Green left to form his own band (Fleetwood Mac), and Ainsley Dunbar moved to Jeff Beck. John took Keef Hartley to the vacant drummer's place, and it was more difficult to replace the lead guitarist - after all, the new musician would have to bear comparison with both Clapton and Green. John remembered that at one of the concerts, when Eric for some reason did not show up on time, a young boy came who claimed to know the entire repertoire of Bluesbreakers. Mayall didn't have much choice, and he invited the young guitarist to the stage. He demonstrated a good knowledge of the material and excellent technique, and John was impressed with his performance. This is the third and last studio album of the Collective Consciousness Society. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London from January to May 1973 and released in September of the same year. In Australia, the album was called "The Band Played Boogie". The album includes, in particular, covers of songs by The Kinks and Cream, and it is equally divided by original compositions. The style continues the style of their two previous albums, with heavy rock and blues songs arranged on jazz instruments.
