Magical Mystery Tour is an album by the English rock band the Beatles, released as a double EP in the United Kingdom and LP in the United States. It includes the soundtrack to the TV movie of the same name in 1967. The EP was released in the UK on December 8, 1967 on the Parlophone label, while the Capitol Records release in the US took place on November 27 and included five more songs that were originally released as singles in the same year. In 1976, Parlophone released an eleven-track album in the UK. Despite widespread criticism in the media of the film "Magic Mystical Tour", the soundtrack was a critical and commercial success. In the UK, it topped the EPs chart compiled by the Record Retailer label, and took 2nd place in the magazine's singles chart (later in the UK Singles chart) after "Hello, Goodbye". The album topped the Billboard Best Records list for eight weeks and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category" Album of the Year "in 1969. "Walls And Bridges" was recorded during the long absences of Lennon and Yoko Ono. The song "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" was attended by Elton John. He made a bet with Lennon that the song would be able to take first place in the American hit parade (which was previously not possible for any one single solo Lennon). If this would have happened, Lennon was required to attend the Elton John concert. He had to fulfill his promise, because, "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" actually managed to climb to the top of the chart. The song "Beef Jerky" is the only instrumental on solo albums Lennon.
