Caravan is a British Canterbury scene band formed in 1968 by former members of The Wilde Flowers band, Pye Hastings (vocals, guitar), Richard Sinclair (vocals, bass guitar), David Sinclair (keyboards) and Richard Coughlan (drums).The first album of the band Caravan (1968) was a hybrid of pop, jazz and psychedelia, playing an important role in the formation of the sound of the band, and the formation of the features of the Canterbury music school as a whole. The album included the band's first signature psychedelic jam, "Where But For Caravan Would I"

Having signed a contract with BC Records, they recorded their self-titled debut album at Advision Studios in London. However, the album was not released. The band started rehearsals on new material in the premises of the London ambulance. They then made a three-month tour of Europe, starting in Oslo on May 20, 1970. After returning from the tour, the musicians recorded the album "Child Of Light" at Tangerine Studios, located in Dalston (East London). The album was released in a small edition on "Barry Class Record Company". The album received very high marks and is a must in the collection of progressive music of the first line.  ...more

"The Star and the Death of Joaquin Murieta— is a rock opera by Alexey Rybnikov and Pavel Grushko. One of the first rock operas in the USSR, created on the initiative of director Mark Zakharov based on the dramatic cantata by the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda "The Shining and Death of Joaquin Murieta, a Chilean robber killed in California on July 23, 1853." The play was performed on the stage of the Lenkom Theater for 17 seasons and was shown 1050 times.  In 1978, the first record "The Star and the Death of Joaquin Murieta" was released — the main parts were performed by: The Star, Teresa - Jeanne Rozhdestvenskaya; Joaquin Murieta, Death - Gennady Trofimov.
