"The Star and the Death of Joaquin Murieta— is a rock opera by Alexey Rybnikov and Pavel Grushko. One of the first rock operas in the USSR, created on the initiative of director Mark Zakharov based on the dramatic cantata by the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda "The Shining and Death of Joaquin Murieta, a Chilean robber killed in California on July 23, 1853." The play was performed on the stage of the Lenkom Theater for 17 seasons and was shown 1050 times.  In 1978, the first record "The Star and the Death of Joaquin Murieta" was released — the main parts were performed by: The Star, Teresa - Jeanne Rozhdestvenskaya; Joaquin Murieta, Death - Gennady Trofimov. Emilio Estevez asked Bon Jovi for their song "Wanted Dead or Alive" from the album "Slippery When Wet" as the theme for his upcoming sequel film about Billy the Kid, but instead Jon Bon Jovi composed several songs for this film. The recording of the album was attended by such stars as Elton John, Little Richard and Jeff Beck. The title song of this album — "Blaze of Glory" — was nominated in 1991 for the Academy Award in the category "Best Music for a Film".
