SWEGAS-CHILD OF LIGHT -1971-THE FIRST PRESS OF FRANCE-TREND-2C-06492507. A very rare French original of the iconic British band. An English band that began its creative activity in 1969. Having signed a contract with BC Records, they recorded their self-titled debut album at Advision Studios in London. However, the album was not released. The band started rehearsals on new material in the premises of the London ambulance. They then made a three-month tour of Europe, starting in Oslo on May 20, 1970. After returning from the tour, the musicians recorded the album "Child Of Light" at Tangerine Studios, located in Dalston (East London). The album was released in a small edition on "Barry Class Record Company". The album received very high marks and is a must in the collection of progressive music of the first line.

The album featured "Lonesome" Dave Peverett on vocals after Chris Yulden left the band last spring. Leader/guitarist Kim Simmonds will be the only band member to continue working with the band after this album, as all the other band members left to form Foghat next year. It was released by Decca in 1970 (SKL 5066). For release in the USA and Canada, the cassettes were leased to Parrot Records (PAS 71042). The album spent a week in the official UK charts and reached number 50. It performed significantly better in the US, where it spent 19 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at number 39, their second-highest album on the US charts. ...more
