BETTY DAVIS SONGBOOK (2LP)-2015-FIRST PRESS UK/EU-PROVOGUE-PRD7455-1.  A rare original of the cult album.  Full release title: Mahalia Barnes / The Soul Mates featuring Joe Bonamassa "OOH YEA (The Betty Davis Songbook)". The album was recorded over three days at Freight Train Studios in Sydney, Australia, "live", without overdubs. The hard groove and riffs (Bonamassa immediately declares his presence) and the sharp piercing vocals in the title track If I'm In Luck I Might Get Picked Up turn into a love story - soul In The Meantime with a dominant organ and, again, a prolonged solo by Bonamassa. The funky He Was A Big Freak gives Mahalia the opportunity to show all her vocal capabilities. The album is made up of covers of songs by Betty Davis, Miles Davis' wife, recorded in the early 70s. Betty met Miles Davis in the late 60s and introduced him to the world of psychedelic rock, introduced him to Jimi Hendrix. Later she released three solo albums, which influenced the formation of such musicians as Prince, Ice Cube, Erykah Badu, etc. Her music consists of a thundering mix of funk, soul, R/B, served raw with sexual overtones and hooligan fervor. Listen and see what happened here. Mahalia Barnes is the daughter of the famous Australian rock/blues singer Jimmy Barnes, who has absorbed soul, blues and rock and roll music since childhood. Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder have always been her idols. Last year, in the studio, she performed several Betty Davis songs in the presence of renowned producer Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa, Led Zeppelin, Journey). So the idea of a whole disc was born, which was willingly supported by Joe Bonamassa, who took a full-scale part in these recordings. "OOH YEA” is an ambitious work by a young singer, a modern interpretation of Betty Davis' music. The participation in the recording of great musicians (including Mahalia's father) and the described producer guarantee a high level of material. Matrix A-1/B-2, A rare British original solo album by guitarist GENESIS. Spectral Mornings is the third studio album by English guitarist and songwriter Steve Hackett, released in May 1979 on Charisma Records. This is his first performance with members of his touring band, which many Hackett fans consider to be a "classic line-up". SPOOKY TOOTH-WITNESS-1973-THE FIRST UK-ISLAND PRESS - ILPS9255 Matrix A-1U/B-1U Stamper 3RM/1P .A very rare British original of the cult group. "Witness" is a chic album by the band, recorded in 1973. To record it, Mike Kelly, the drummer from the original composition of Spooky Tooth, returned to the band and, practically, replaced Bryson Graham, who participated in the recording of the previous album You Broke My Heart ... (1973). Gary Wright is gaining more and more influence in the band, which did not please frontman Mike Harrison, who left the band shortly after the release of “Witness”. In addition to Wright, the authors of the music were bassist Chris Stewart in the song "Don't Ever Stray Away" and guitarist Mick Jones in the rather pop "All Sewn Up". Mike Harrison strangely did not have a hand in the composition in any way. But his emotional vocals created the main mood of Witness. The band also returned to the old practice of Spooky Tooth from the time of the album Spooky Two - duets, vocal duels between Harrison and Wright. Critics praised the work, the album hit 49th place on the Billboard 200. ...more
